This is our Marianne, one of our party planners, when she’s not solving a payroll problem. Here’s a bit about what lights her up…
What do you do for One Accounting?
I part of the payroll team and handle multiple clients on both monthly and weekly schedules, making sure everyone gets paid accurately and on time.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
I really enjoy manual calculations and solving complex payroll problems.
What have you liked most about joining One Accounting?
One Accounting has really given me my confidence back. After taking a career break to have my daughter. I feel genuinely accomplished in my role again, and missing the furlough/covid period ended up being ideal timing.
I love to organise so also being part of the Social Committee with Yvonne arranging the various team events has been great fun!
Got a favourite work app?
Paycircle has been a game changer for the payroll team, as well as the employer portals given the clients better access to reporting. The integration modules with Access HR and pension providers has streamlined our process and allowed us to focus on the payroll issues rather than data entry.
What did you want to be when you were little?
I either wanted to be a nursery nurse but my parents said there was no money in that or a midwife.
What’s your favourite food?
Can’t beat a rare steak and chips with peppercorn sauce and a glass of red wine.
And your favourite song?
Deacon Blue – Dignity.
How do you like to spend your free time?
My free time is spent reading or listening to romance books or building Lego which started as a hobby with my daughter but I’m now enjoying building for my own mental health and there are various Lego flowers around my house now!
If you won the lottery what’s the first thing you would buy?
A house at Lochgoilhead looking onto the loch to escape to at the weekend.
What’s your favourite place in the world?
Disneyland Paris – you can leave your troubles at the door and just embrace the magic!
Tell us something about you that might surprise people!
In 2020 we actually won a million pounds on the lottery – and I found out on the very day I returned from maternity leave. That allowed me to take a career break and spend a few wonderful years with my daughter. Now the money has gone, its still given me a comfortable life and the change to keep working part – time, so I can keep that work/life balance I really enjoy.
